In 2006 Regal Auto Wash & Detail® was for the seventh year in a row in the top ten
of the largest car wash chains in the United States based on the number of locations
and number of stores, climbing up to rank 8 from rank 9 in 2005. Regal
currently owns and operates sixteen full-service car washes, one express car wash,
and nine quick lube facilities in Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Minnesota and
Ohio. The corporate offices are located in Scottsdale, Arizona, part of
the Phoenix metropolitan area. As regional managers are in charge of the operational
management of the car washes, the administrative office is responsible
for accounting, payroll, investor relationship management and general business.
Regal
has experienced steady growth since entering the car wash business
in 1989. Regal initially concentrated its car wash operations in the southeastern
United States. In early 1998, Regal established another car wash "hub"
in Minneapolis, Minnesota with the purchase of three full-service car wash facilities.
In July, 2002, Regal created a new car wash "hub" in Nashville, Tennessee,
with the acquisition of three additional car washes. In 2003, a car wash in
Murfreesboro, Tennessee was integrated into the chain. Regal’s expansion in Tennessee
continued in March 2004 with the addition of a car wash in Cordova, Tennessee.
In late June 2005, two car washes in the Cleveland, Ohio area were acquired.
The latest acquisitions were a full service and an express car wash as well
as a lube in Bowling Green, Kentucky just an hour north of the Nashville units
in February of 2006. Regal opened its first self-built express wash in Bowling
Green, KY in May 2007.
